Things in general

First of the 3 new babies due to arrive in the family came last night.  Amy and Eric Wright welcomed Isaiah at 11:30 last night.  He is a big boy.  9 pounds 5 oz.  Mom still a bit worn out but both are doing well.  Congrats Eric and Amy.

Steve has been in Atlanta GA for a few days.  Due home tomorrow night.  I am leaving on Thursday to fly to visit Ryan and Rebecca and Spencer and Hoover and Sophie.  Baby shower for Rebecca on Sunday that will be fun.  I am praying for dry roads to Denver as I am not anxious to drive in the snow and it usually snows in Wyoming for Halloween.  (raining right now.. and cold  could be snow by morning).  I hope I will get to see the Lecher’s or at least most of them for a few minutes on Thursday.  They are always busy so even a few minutes will be a bonus.

Well our Rockies made it to the World Series, but Boston got the best of them in 4 games.  Too much time off between the playoffs and the series to keep the momentum going maybe.  Oh well they finally made it.  Then as if that was not enough..  The Packers beat the Broncos last night.  Stevie and Mike were happy.

That’s about it for me tonight.  Maggie and Sophie are wanting a bedtime treat and some much needed rest.

Have a great one.

Idle Chit Chat

It’s Tuesday night, I can’t believe the week is going by so fast.  My mom always told me that the time goes by faster the older you get, she wasn’t kidding.  Time is flying by.  Can’t believe BGE will be her in a little over 2 months.  The room is starting to take shape.  Furniture was delivered last week, the painters should finish by Friday.  I am hoping that the room will be presentable by Sunday’s baby shower.
Speaking of…I’ve never had a baby shower before.  I was young when Spencer was born and all of my friends were away.  So this is a totally new experience for me.  Can’t wait though, I have a ton of family and friends coming.  Vickie is coming in from Casper for the weekend.  She arrives on Thursday night late.  I’m taking Friday off to hang out.
Spencer is doing well.  He is starting to straighten up in school, grade wise.  We had another talk tonight.  I don’t want him to think that I am riding his butt all the time, but sometimes I feel like I have too.
As one of the guys at work told me, you have to let them grow up sometime and figure out life for themselves.  True!
Ryan is at the gym tonight.  I’m working out in the mornings before work.  I am glad that I am doing it again, gives me a ton of energy during the day, but I am exhausted at night.
Thursday I have my last monthly doctors appointment.  I go to every two weeks beginning November 15th.  Again, I can’t believe how fast time has flown by.  I feel like I just found out that I was preggers…and now I’m getting fatter by the day.  Oh yes, I feel like I am as big as a house.  Can’t wait to diet and start running again…cruise is just 130’ish days away.

Well I am off to bed…Boston Legal is on tonight.  Need to see what Denny Crane does on tonight’s episode.

Shhh…don’t tell

Okay, so I should technically be working.  Instead I am eating lunch at my desk (a salad and yogurt…yummy, huh) and blogging.  I have a meeting at Commerce Bank this afternoon at 1:30.  Taking 4 guys with me, should be a good meeting.

Ryan started his training yesterday at the gym.  He was sore this morning, but a good sore, okay so those are my words not his :-).  He is working out tonight…I’m definitely proud of him.  I bought enough food for us to start eating healthy.  Can’t wait to try some recipes out.

Ryan went to they Murphy’s last night for chili and football.  I stayed home to put away the halloween decorations and clean up the house a bit.  I was getting tired of looking at cobwebs, spiders and haunted houses.  Spencer had his last game yesterday, a loss to their rivals, the Oxford Knights.  He had some good tackles.  It was freakin’ cold here, 45 degrees, windy and rainy…if I heard one parent say this is good football weather, I heard 10 of them say it.  I almost told them to shut-up (I pronunciated honey).

Halloween party was fun on Friday night.  We had about 50 people show.  The last one left around 4:15 am on Saturday.  I went to bed around 1:00 am, Ryan was the perfect host, he stayed up and partied with the best of them.  I have to admit cleaning up the house after a party was never as easy.  I’ve learned this…apparently if you don’t drink, you don’t have a headache and it’s alot easier to clean crap up!

Well need to get ready for my meeting…leaving in about 20 minutes.

Something strange has happened to one of our grandsons….  Check out the pictures in the Gallery, family photos, Lovato’s.  I think he has been brained washed.  Still a cute kid though.  He still loves the ROCKIES though.  In a blog I have been doing on I found out that the cruise we  are going on in March will have a bunch of Boston ball players.  That should be fun.  Guess we should all wear out Rockie’s purple and black.  Once the Rockies win the pennant, that would probably cause a riot on the cruise ship.  ;-).

It snowed here this week end.  Melting nicely, but once this starts I am ready for a cruise.  I could skip the holidays this year, although I know that wont happen. Am I beginning to sound like my dad?    Lets just get to the new baby.  Maybe she will come a bit early and even be a tax deduction for 2007.  I have looked at all the sonogram pict’s and I must say looks like she will be a typical baby in our family… no hair.  Most of them were bald or so blond you could not see their hair.  I said most Nate, Courtney and Stephen.

Steve survived the big birthday.  Nothing too exciting.  He has opted out of Social security for a few more years.  (Hope it will still be there when we are ready to take it. ) I am not sure, but I think I will check out taking mine when I am 62.  Not sure yet, just have to see.
Enough from me today.  Have lots to do before I get to take a few day break for the baby shower in a few weeks.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone and every critter in OP.

Can’t believe it!

October 20, 2007 by

Just getting ready to go to bed.  Just crossed my mind that I am going to wake up old enough for Social Security!  Can’t believe it!  I guess time really does fly when you are having fun.  I’m just happy that I have been blessed with good health, a good family life, and a great job.  It really is fun – God has been very good to me.

Still alot of things I would like to try and I think it’s good to have desires and welcome challenges.  The alternative is probably a pretty deep rut.  I still need to figure out how to pile up about 40 years worth of solid retirement income!  I’ve been called alot of things in my life – some I don’t even know – but I’ll bet I’ve never been called "thrifty" – or "financially conservative" for that matter.  That’s okay though – that’s the path I’ve chosen and it truly has been a blast to be able to travel with family and see some stuff while we are in possession of our health.  I would much rather say "I’ve done that" than " I wish I would have….".  You just never know until you give it a shot.

I think it’s bedtime now …. can’t believe I’m sitting here rambling.  I’m too old for this shtuff! 🙂

Thursday morning ….. chilly outside.  A light covering of SNOW visible on Casper Mountain.  This is the time of year when parts of Vickie’s job (retirement) start looking really good to me.  All I do in the Wyoming winter these days is shovel sidewalk, scrape windshield, bring in firewood, and work (which involves alot of highway time on slick roads with low visibility)!  If it sounds like I am whining I probably am …. winter just ain’t what it used to be when I at least gave tries at bowling, skiing (even cross country in the moonlight), snowmobiling, & outdoor shtuff when the kids were younger.  I’m not even sure the Broncos got what it takes to make Sundays interesting this year!

Anyway, I’m already looking past "winter winter’ to Cruise time!  And I will be making a few business trips this winter that should break it up a bit. Off to Atlanta the end of this month for a couple of days, possible journey to Germany in late November-early December, New Orleans in December, and good ole Las Vegas the first week of February.  Then comes March and Cruise-time.  For that I am ready my friends!

BGE…is a growin’

October 18, 2007 by

Yes, BGE (funny enough, those are her initial’s) is growing.  I had a 3-D Ultra-sound yesterday.  Although she didn’t cooperate as well as we liked, she did give us a few cute pics.  She currently is weighing in at 2.9 lbs and is at 58 percentile for her age.  Sounds kind of funny since technically she’s not really an "age".  She has a two rather long femurs.  That means (according to the doctor) that she is long.  She is measuring about 1 week early right now, but as we all know she will come into this world when she is good and ready.

I am working a 1/2 day today and taking a vac day tomorrow.  Need to still do a lot of work to get ready for the 2nd Annual Elledge Spook-tacular Halloween Bash tomorrow night.  At last count, we have 65 people who are coming. 18 maybe’s and 80’something that has yet to respond…slackers!!!  Check out Ryan’s website for pics of our annual event!

Spencer has a football game today against Blue Valley Cardinals…Go Harmony T-Birds!

Ryan had his first excercise training session this morning at 6:00 AM.  I am very proud of him for wanting to get healthy.  I renewed his membership to Lifetime (our club here in OP).  AND…of course we are going to start eating healthier. I think he has a meeting with a nutritionist next week.  Good Luck Babe!

Well off to the groomers (sophie is being beautified today), taking Spencer to school and I’m off to work!

Gotta admit it is fun!

October 16, 2007 by

Okay —- I have been ultra-critical of O’Dowd & Hurdle & Company for the past few years.  Seemed like every time someone got "hot" they would put them on the block, presumeably to keep the payroll "skinny".  Additionally I have never been overly impressed with Hurdle’s managerial "intuition" and his "gut feelings".  BUT……………………………. I GOTTA ADMIT IT …. THIS IS FUN!  I’m sitting here at work today with a Colorado Rockies Polo Shirt on and I am proud to be a fan.  What great chemistry they are displaying!  Some great talent all gelling at the right time!  When will it end?  I’m seriously hoping it will end right after a 4 game sweep of the 2007 World Series!  What an accomplishment that would be!  Anyway —- " GO ROCKIES"!

Well…………….let us see if i can actually post it!

Go for 4

Barking Contest

October 10, 2007 by

Good Evening!  Here it is almost 8:00 on Wednesday night.  Hoover is having a barking contest with the schnauzer’s next door.  Hoover is definitely louder, but the schnauzer’s bark longer and it’s that yappy annoying bark.  Anywho…it’s kind of quiet, well except for the barking:-).  Spencer is at a "Real Life" event at church with a couple of friends.  Ryan and I both had to work late tonight.  I had a deadline that I had to meet.  I met it by running the package to the FedEx Kinko’s location in OP.  Hopefully it will make it to Pennsylvania tomorrow morning.

Oh wait…Hoover wants in from outside…okay, now he is happy.

This week is flying by…can’t believe tomorrow is Thursday.  A busy day, but not as busy as today.  I don’t think I finally set down at my desk until 5:15 tonight.  Spencer has a football game tomorrow afternoon against Prairie Star Middle School.  I hope they do good.  They haven’t won a game all season, bu they’ve been really close.
Next week I am going in for a 3-D ultra sound.  Can’t wait – should be fun.  Ryan isn’t too thrilled with the 3-D pics of BGE.  He thinks that they look alien like.  I think I am going by myself, Ryan maybe traveling and Spencer has football practice.  You’ll have to check out Ryan’s website and the click on gallery for the new pics to surface.
The baby’s room is starting to come together.  The hardwood floors are in and stained.  The painting will begin in a week or so.  I am going to order furniture this weekend.  I am going to have a friend make the bedding.  I can’t find anything I like that’s reasonably priced.  Shelly (How Cute Is That Designs, and I are going fabric shopping next week.  Can’t wait.  I need to order a glidder for the room, I found the one I liked on-line…need to order it too.

Okay…so my new show just started…Private Practice, it’s a spin off Grey’s Anatomy.

Till Next Time!
