Nebraska is LONG

August 30, 2008 by

Brandon is home babysitting Maggie and Sophie (he is also working most of the weekend). We arrived in OP about 2:30 this afternoon. Long drive, but other than about a million trucks, pretty uneventful.

Little B is sitting up by herself, and has noticable hair which she did not have when we saw her a month ago. She is so funny. Going to a birthday party for Spencer tomorrow at his grandma and grandpas house. They have moved to a new house in Harrisonville.

I was kind of excited for the RNC but this hurricane scares me. It would not surprise me if they cancel the convention if this hurricane is as bad as it looks like it is going to be. My prayers go out for those people in the gulf coast area and in the Caymans and Cuba and all the affected areas.

I know I am thrilled with Mc Cains choice of running mate. I feel a bit of confidence now that perhaps there is a chance we will win this election… Positive thinking. I really like the lady, her spunk and her ideas. Makes the campaign interesting again.

Well I am tired.. Just got off the phone with Steph, they had a blow out on their car by Glenrock and have been waiting on the highway for a long time because they had to call onstar to come out. Makes for a long day.

Well..God bless all

Tuesday Bullet Points

August 26, 2008 by

* Denver is so far left right now I don’t know how or if they will ever get right.
* When the Broncos take the field they will have to let everybody play and pay their way in!
* Confirmed I am going to Germany …. Sunday 9/14 – Sunday 9/21.
* One leg of the trip back is London to Denver – 10 1/2 hours – no aisle or window seats left on the plane. That should be real fun.
* 3 days until we are on the road to OP. I’m ready to be out of here for a week.
* Stephen Michael is seven years old already —— things keep happening that try to make me feel old. I am trying to resist.
* Have a Board meeting on Vic’s birthday but will be back that evening. Wonder what she wants for her birthday? Anybody knows anything please advise.
* Took a short walk tonite. Out of shape for sure. Fattening up too ….. WeightWatchers here I come again. Only problem – making the commitment.
* When you’re outta bullets shut up Steve!
Bye – no BO

Saturday Evening

August 23, 2008 by

Got alot done today. Big B’s furniture finally came in. Had to borrow the neighbors pickup truck to go pick it up. It had a battery problem but after he got it started it ran fine. Vic & I went over to the furniture store to load up and I killed it. Deader than a doornail still so had to call the neighbor. He brought his other truck over & gave me another jump-start and we got the furniture home! You just can’t borrow good equipment anymore! 🙂
B and I and Vic got everything put together and Vic and B got all of his stuff put away. Nice looking digs he has down there in the basement – and really nice furniture – nice gift from his parents.
B is working at Safeway now and really seems to like it. He will do well there so get your stock purchased now!

I have a meeting in Cheyenne next Friday afternoon so Vic is going down with me and we are heading for OP as soon as I am done …. hopefully around 3’ish. I only want to do about 6 – 7 hours then get a room and drive the rest on Saturday. Ryan won’t be home from his DMB trip until Monday but Vic and I plan to impose on Rebecca, Spencer, Hoover, Sophie, and BGE sometime Saturday afternoon. There is a birthday gathering for Spencer on Sunday – then Ryan needs to figure out how to get us to the Lake for a day or two……..I want to ride on the big boat at least once!

The week after we are in Kansas/Missouri I have a Board meeting over in Rock Springs and the following week there is a rumor out there that I am going to Germany for a week or so. My boss says we are going but we don’t have any plane tickets yet – I’ll just say maybe until they are purchased. Kind of weird – the meetings sort of come together over there and then something changes I guess – still don’t know for sure when we are coming back if we do go.

Well – BO & Biden are really messing up the TV – gonna be a long week. As soon as McCain lets his VP pick be known I figure things will really heat up. This Biden guy has alot of rethinking to do to line up with BO I think – they have been coming from different sides fairly consistently. Of course if you keep changing your mind it’s hard for the other guy to keep up – and when both keep changing their minds it’s a total crapshoot. Anyway – gonna be a lonnnng time till November.

Love to all – keep the faith!

Business Briefs: INVESTMENT ALERT!

August 21, 2008 by

Stock alert! McDonald’s Investors on Wyoming Boulevard are scrambling to dump their stock in anticipation of today’s announcement that Big B Lecher will be terminating his relationship with the struggling franchise. In a mad rush to liquidate their shares some are wondering what to do with their proceeds and where a safe investment might be made? Those on the “inside” know that Big B himself is expected to “rise again” through the corporate ranks of the grocery giant Safeway, whose stock is already nudging upward in anticipation of his arrival. We’ll bring you more on this breaking event as it unfolds.

Just say “NO” to an “Obama-Nation”!

Sad Day for a DMB Fan

LeRoi Moore of the Dave Matthews Band

LeRoi Moore of the Dave Matthews Band

Laying in bed tonight watching the television, my phone rang at about 11:20 pm. It was Gabe. “Have you heard the news?” he asked. Well, I had not. This afternoon, LeRoi Moore, the saxophonist and a founding member of the Dave Matthews Band, passed away unexpectedly from complications stemming from an ATV accident he had back in June. Since the accident, LeRoi had been in and out of the hospital, but had recently returned to Los Angeles to begin rehabilitation. He hasn’t played with the band since his accident, but the severity was never really disclosed. I kept thinking that he would be back on stage with the band any time. I was definitely hoping for his return before the Gorge in a few weeks. Little did I know that June 6 and 7th, in Chicago and St. Louis respectively, would be the last time I would see the full DMB together… forever.

Much to my surprise, DMB is in midst of a concert tonight… at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, of all places. I certainly hope that Dave and crew were able to see LeRoi before his passing, being in the same city and all. I guess it is fitting that the band would jam tonight in celebration of a musical genius.

Time will tell if LeRoi will be replaced permanently in the band or if the saxophone will be silenced. Jeff Collins from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones has filled in for LeRoi for almost every concert since LeRoi’s accident, and I presume he will be with the band for the rest of the tour barring any other conflicting dates with the Flecktones. But what will the future hold?

My thoughts and prayers go out to the band, the fans, and LeRoi’s family and friends. I will never forget sitting in a bar in Moses Lake, Washington, with LeRoi and his girlfriend having drinks just a few tables away. That was back in 2002, but outside of a concert and sitting front row a few times, that is the only time I witnessed him off stage.

Rest in Peace, LeRoi. You were The Stone.

How To Start Each Day with a Positive Outlook

August 19, 2008 by

Thanks to Cherie Defenbaugh for sending me this gem. I like it, and will practice it daily!

  1. Open a new file in your computer.
  2. Name it ‘Barack Obama’.
  3. Send it to the Recycle Bin.
  4. Empty the Recycle Bin.
  5. Your PC will ask you: ‘Do you really want to get rid of ‘Barack Obama?’
  6. Firmly Click ‘Yes.’
  7. Feel better?

GOOD! – Tomorrow we’ll do Nancy Pelosi!
