Okay – In one of our weaker moments Vickie and i booked another cruise! It’s a happy 64th birthday to me! It won’t be until the week of October 18th, 2009. 1.25 years to get ready …. but it is on the calendar. Should give anyone with interest plenty of time to figure it out if they would like to join us. I know it is a dirty deal because it is probably right in the middle of a school year but hey …. everyone has different school years anyway and the only way to work around them would be to do a summer cruise …then we would hit baseball, softball, lakes, and a multitude of different activities sooooooo —- it is October 18, 2009. 8 days on the Carnival Spirit —– departs San Diego and ports in Acupulco, Manzanillo, and Ixtapa – all in Southern Mexico – south of Cabo & the ones we have been to before. All new ports for us so looked exciting – and 2 sea days on each end – 2 to get there and 2 to get back. Anyone who can work it out would be more than welcome……we would love the company. Vickie just advised me it is only 453 days away as of today.

While I am on cruises – let me just make it perfectly clear that we are open minded – and if another sweet lookin’ deal comes up prior to October 2009 we could probably be talked into taking a serious look at that also. Notice i said also – i have every intention of making this ship - already have a room reserved (a suite no less)! I figure if i start paying on it now it should be good to go by departure eh! Anyway – keep us posted if you have anything cooking that we might be able to join you. I am already ready. WOW — I will turn 64 on that one – sheesh!

Hot here today. We had a little bbq here for about 18 people this evening. It went well – had venison hamburgers though – not bad but not my favorite.

Mom still at the hospital. Sounds like she will spend most of this week there while they figure out what she is capable of doing for herself and what she needs help with. Don’t think it will ever be quite the same again but Mom always surprises me so will withold judgement. Just seems like this pain is intense and hurts her even while she is on some pretty stout painkiller. Pray for comfort please.

Stephanie – whenever I had the honor (seldom because I was a good dodger) of buying you or your sister "plugs" I never felt the urge to broadcast it —— so thanks for letting anyone with internet access know i was buying nylon panties on the weekend – pink and blue and white by the way. Anyway – as Larry the Cable Guy would say — I got ‘er done!

Going to bed now —— dont forget to use BO-derant!

I can’t remember having a busier weekend then the one we just survived. On Friday night I went to the mountain for our weekly bonfire. It was so busy! The Bear Trap Summer Festival was up there and we got the last bonfire site. It was beautiful up there and the bonfire was a blazing. On Saturday we went to Cheyenne so that Ashley could go to the Taylor Swift concert. When Santa brought her those tickets last Christmas I was sure she was going to ask her mom. But no, she decided to take her cousin Courtney. The girls had a blast and I am sure that she had a better time with Courtney then she would have had with her mother. We got back into town about two in the morning and got up and went boating and tubing with some friends. Stephen and Ashley both had a lot of fun tubing. They are a little sore today but had a great time. So now for my headline…what I missed last weekend…

I had another student die this past week. This time it was a little kid…she was 11. I had her three short years ago and her sister two years ago. This was a tough one! This little girl has the most insane mother in the world. This little girl, her sister, her mother and her mother’s "new" boyfriend were traveling the northern part of the United States. The "new" boyfriend travels around doing odd jobs for people. While in Iowa the "new" boyfriend apparently made enough money for mom to get her nails done. So while she was in the salon getting beautiful nails with bright blue tips…This little girl and her sister decided to explore the mall. They started riding the escalator. Security cameras at the mall caught this little girl sitting on the railing riding the escalator. It also caught her falling over backwards…twenty five feet…and landing face first! This little girl of course was rushed to the hospital and was on life support for several days before dying. Mom decided to go on a couple more jobs in Minnestoa with the boyfriend before returning to Casper. Oh yea! I forgot they didn’t have money to ship the body home. This little girl’s father came to the rescue and got his daughter home…did I mention he didn’t know where his children had gone with their mother? I couldn’t go to the funeral yesterday. I am not a violent person but I so would have lost it on the mother. When she brought her other children to summer school last Monday she had the nerve to tell us about the wonderful and fun vacation they had been on! After hearing her speak about her adventures and not even upset over the loss of her daughter I couldn’t stomach it anymore. She showed the beautiful nails with bright blue tips! She was actually quoted (in the past) as saying that she didn’t ever want kids in the first place! So I missed the funeral last weekend…

On a much lighter note…I also missed shopping for underwear for my grandmother. Thanks dad for catching that one…you’re the best!!! <3 Steph

So, the weekend is nearly over, but in about 15 minutes, Rebecca and I are headed out. We’re going to an OAR (Of A Revolution) concert at Sandstone. Concert begins at 7:30 pm tonight, but the idiots running Sandstone have removed a bunch of seats and made it all general admission. So we have to head out in the blistering sun (as if I haven’t had enough of that this weekend) and try to get a decent spot to watch the concert.

We got back from the lake about 2 hours ago. We had a good time. Spencer and his friend Philip went along with our friends Shawn and Stephanie Hashmi. The Murphys couldn’t go this weekend as they have the Murphy family reunion today over at Gabe’s house.

Well, a short update, but we are about to head out the door and I need to finish getting ready. I’ll have some extreme tubing videos uploaded this week (I hope, heading to Omaha Tuesday for a DMB concert)… Rebecca, Philip and Shawn had some nice “spills”. I’m a good driver! Spencer wussed out and didn’t tube at all. In fact, short of a 20 minute jet ski ride, he may as well not even have gone to the lake. We did catch the new Batman movie late last night. Two thumbs up, for sure. Heath Leger was awesome as the Joker. Too bad he went and died before he could receive his accolades for making the movie a big hit.

Prayers to grandma, hope she gets out of the hospital soon.

Peace. I just took a shower, so I have no BO. I hope you don’t have BO either.

The last seven days have been eventful to say the least. A variety of things going on — pretty much never a dull moment.

Work was work – did my share of day travel, took on a couple of new projrcts that look really interesting, checked in on a couple that are under construction (I love it when we get to that point…..actually doing something material), and worked with a couple that are in process. All in all – pretty well rounded week and no complaints.

Personal life was busy! Mom ended up in the hospital on Wednesday – just couldn’t get around and severe pain in her back. She is still there as i write – though she has moved over to the Transitional Care Unit – kind of a physical therapy arrangement to get her back on her feet and evaluate her capacity and capabilities to see if she can go back to tending for herself or if it is time for an Assisted Living arrangement. I am guessing she will be in there for another couple of days anyway. Sooo….did alot of running around taking care of her stuff, getting her what she needed, etc. etc. ….. and just visiting with her a bit.

Nate, Courtney, and Keegan came up this past week also so Nate could help his Grandma get some stuff out of the basement. They did a great job! I think the local landfill is a little bit fuller than it was last week – they took some major loads to the dump! Starting to look like the "B" will actually have some room down there if he decides toi move up this way for work & school. Anyway — thanks to Nate for alot of help. The last night he was here we loaded up the pool table and ping pong table cover in his truck and tied it down good and he took them home with him. I committed to give Nate those items some time ago — and frankly I cant think of a better place for them. He is one fine young man! Oh … and while I am mentioning fine young men …. that Keegan is really coming into his own. What a great one! And finally as we discuss the visiting Lechers, you can see that Courtney got this blogging figured out – what a sweetie – I am guessing we will hear more from her.

Steph & Mike & Stephen took Ashley and Courtney to Cheyenne last night so they could use their Christmas presents "finally" – they had tickets to the Taylor Swift concert at Frontier Days. Those two young ladies looked totally awesome all dressed up before they left. Have i told you lately about my three awesome granddaughters? Wowzers! I havent heard from anyone this morning but am assuming they had a good time, that the Lovato’s are back in Casper, and that Courtney is in Colorado. She was excited to get home so she could go to a Rockies game at Coors Field with a group of friends today. Busy people!

I think that one of the events of the past week that was interesting is that I believe Ashley has become somewhat hooked on Texas Hold ‘Em! Yep – Ashley & Stephen & Coutrtney and Vic & I had some great sessions this past week. Fun!

Oh …. also got the motorhome all serviced and set up. Probably going to use it for a bedroom etc. for some of the end of month guests that are anticipated here. Sounds like we "could" have alot of different family visits from both sides of our family. I don’t think summer is going to slow down for awhile!

Well …. time to clean up and head up to see how Ma is doing this morning. And yes Son — I will put on a heavy dose of BO repellant!

Hey, today I think Ash and I are going to go to the mall. So Ashley has told me that they got an areopostal so i guess we are gonna go there. We have one of those in Fort. Collins. And we have an American egale there also but one of my favorite stores they do not have here but they do have it in Fort. Collins. Also I’m just sitting here waiting for grandma to get back from taking Ashley to dance this morning. Nathan is so lazy he is still in bed. Keegan is sitting by me on grandmas computer and so that leaves with me on grandpas lol. Also Brandon is up in Glendo at a church camp, he is the camp conselour. By this time my dad is at work and my mom would be getting ready for her work day. Or she could be working out but who knows what time she works today. The dogs are lying behind me probably waiting tell their mom gets home to feed them. Nate is leaving tomarrow cause he wants to see grandpa cookie and grandma hotshot, before he leaves so i guess he will do that! I think grandma just got home so se=he is gonna make us cinnamon toast. The toast that grandma makes is oh so good. Keegan is so loud he keeps on screaming at the computer that he wants a boogie or what ever it is he confuses me all the time. OH i get it he is playing mini golf on the computer how weird is that?? I dont even Know how weird he is and i heve lived with him for like 11 almost 12 years. Oh can you belive that Keegan is almost 12 i cant but that means im 13 two more years tell i get to drive, oh that will be so much fun. I still kind of dont know what kind of car i want im thinking more torwds bigger cars like a Jeep Cherokee or a truck I still dont know but oh well cause i still have three years to think about that one. But i can smell the cinnoman toast so i think Im going to go eat! Have a great day. See you all soon.

Well today is July 16 and im in casper visiting grandma and grandpa. I drove up here with Nate in his truck.(And it took forever, no joke.) We started to celebrate when the turck hit 80 mph. I mean that is really sad, but anyways im here tell saturday and so is Keegan maybe cause he may go back with Nate on friday but who knows when they are leaving.

Teachers are supposed to have more time in the summer, RIGHT? Our summer has been very busy so far. Ashley has taken many dance classes getting ready for the next competition season. We just returned from Nationals in California at the Disneyland Hotel. She received 2 Diamonds (Platnium), 3 Rubies (Gold) and one Emerald (Silver). She did an awesome job and competed really well for a girl from a smaller dance community.

Stephen tested for his purple belt in Tae Kwon Do on Saturday. He passed the test and is now taking the advanced classes. In less then a years time he went through all of the lower belts and is more then halfway to his black belt. He is a tough little dude and now he has formal training.

Mike visited his family in Evanston over the 4th. He was able to spend time with both of his parents and brothers Rockey and Troy. He seemed to have a really good time but hated seeing how ill his father has become. He was also able to spend time with his nieces, Taylor and Savannah. He sent us pictures of the girls and they definatly look like Lovato’s. I always thought Stephen looked like a Lovato but not so much after seeing the pictures of the girls.

Then there is Talladega. I always mention her as a joke because I don’t want her to feel like she is not an important part of our family. This time I have real news about her antics. Tally got sick at the beginning of June. We aren’t quite sure what made her sick but she stopped eating and vomited for at least a week. She was becoming dehydrated. We took her to the vet and after x-rays of her stomach it was determined that she had a virus. So we spent two weeks giving her antacids and vomiting medication. ONE DAY after finishing her medication she developed kennel cough. She got it from the vet the week previous. So more vomiting and two more kinds of medication! Just as she is getting back to normal we notice her whimpering and biting her tail. We are thinking yeast infection from the antibiotics. Mike and I were arguing about who gets to apply that cream…Anyway we take her to the vet and she doesn’t have a yeast infection…she broke her tail! So two more medications. She seems to be on the mend however Mike kenneled her while he went to Evanston so I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. So she really was news worthy since the last update and quite expensive. They forgot to send me three hundred dollars for her in the tax rebate check!

I started teaching summer school today. I am making Stephen go with me since I haven’t ever really gotten a chance to be his teacher. I made Ashley go when she was in second grade also. I am proud to announce that Stephen is going to have a very lucky second grade teacher next year. He is so much smarter then the new crop of incoming second graders I will be getting.

I am finally getting caught up at home after being gone for the 10 days we were in So. California. I love the California lifestyle. I just didn’t get enough sleep this trip. It was nice to catch up with my California relatives and I got to meet up with a friend that I went to junior high with. On a whim I texted her as we went through the town she lived in while in high school. I had visited her many times in high school and a couple of times since then. I was surprised to receive a phone call from her and that she was in So. California also. We met up for lunch and it was really fun to get to visit with her. I hope to talk to her again real soon.

I had camera issues at Disneyland so I will only be uploading a few pictures. I am definately NOT related to my brother, mother, aunt and cousins when it comes to taking pictures. I don’t like carrying my camera around and think it is easier not to hassle it. I have to go a get Stephen ready for his new class and get dinner ready for the family. Have a great one! Steph
