This is the week….

September 13, 2009 by

Well, the week has arrived, though we anticipated the newest Lil’ B, Brody, would have already come. If he doesn’t make an appearance before Friday, will be induced and he should arrive probably midday on Friday. I am so excited to have a son on the way, but afraid as well. Life will drastically change… again… with the second infant in the house. has done much of the with , but I am going to have to step my game up quite a bit. It will be challenging, with going 100 mph, but it will definitely be worth it. Our will be complete… yep, I am proclaiming right here, right now that this will be the last. How to make that happen is subject to debate here in my house, but one way or another, I think we’re done!

Brody’s room is coming along… the walls are painted, quite a bit of decor has arrived (but has not been hung). The new carpet is in, the crib, chainging table and rocking chair have been relocated from ’s room to Brody’s. I have a guy who is going to build me some cool wooden lockers for his room, and those won’t be done for about 4-6 weeks, but that will be the finishing touch. Now, if I could just get his baseball ceiling light working… the fan works, but not the lite. Someday I will master being an electrician. That someday will probably be right after my pops arrives mid week.

Yep, mom and dad are heading here from Casper to be here to welcome Brody into the world. Will be great to have them around to help out. I know will love it… though she absolutely loves visiting with ba-pa and grandma on the computer. Webcams make a lot closer, that’s for sure. And anytime I am on my laptop, comes running to talk to ba-pa.

is quite the girl. I am nervous as to how she is going to react to having a new brother… one that will inevitably take much attention. There is a 6 month old at her daycare who she isn’t too fond of. I think she will be a great big sister. I know in about 2 years, we’ll love the fact that and Bro are so close in age. Of course, daddy and will spend a bunch of time with while mom is feeding Brody. Ah, the sleepless nights are approaching quickly!

So it was nice to have some football to watch. I did ok with my picks for week one, though I must admit I did not pick the Broncos. Don’t get me wrong, I am ecstatic that they won… I just didn’t anticipate it. Was awesome to see the Chiefs lose again… that’s pretty normal though.

Quickie on politics… I am just so amazed at how many people pretend they know what the health care bill(s) being pushed are really about and what they will do. How could any of us really know how good or how bad the bills are… even our Congress hasn’t even read them! What I do know is I am very opposed to the government running anything more. They fail, fail, fail in everything they put their magical touch on. And I don’t like businesses being punished, nor individuals being mandated to. I love the legacy concept of America being a free-country. Those days are behind us all, I must say.

I do have to give major kudos to President for his 9/11 speech. I was actually quite amazed at it, really. The speech was very thoughtful and sincere and well delivered (thanks, teleprompter!) The amazing part to me was the religious overtures that gave during his speech. He cited scripture and referenced God. Oh, how that must just irritate the left. Oh well, I bag on the buy enough so may as well give him props when he deserves it.

Speaking of 9/11, that is my mom’s birthday. Of course I called her and wished her a happy birthday, but let this be my public proclamation of such, and that I am so thankful for my mother (and my whole ). She is a tremendous woman who cares so much about her and . I pray my daughter will grow up to be the same way. I am thrilled that suggested that Brody’s middle name be Carlen, my mother’s maiden name.

Oh, and 9/12 was the Biggest B’s birthday… my nephew Brandon turned 20! Can’t believe it… I remember vividly holding him and dancing to Lollipop when he was younger than is today… what a great kid. He’s off traveling in Europe right now for the next week. I pray he has a wonderful, safe time over there. What a great kid, er, young man he is.

Well, is laying at my feet snoring, has been in (and out) of bed for the past two hours (mostly in, but she did tumble out of her bed tonight), and and just ventured to bed themselves. I guess that is my clue it is time for me to do the same. After a shower, though… I am FILTHY from finishing my firepit today. Will have to throw some pictures up in my gallery sometime in the next few days. Pretty happy with how it turned out. It isn’t perfect, but for never having done anything like it before, I must say I did a pretty damn good job.

Peace to all ya’ll out there in cyber land. Wish us well as we bring another Elledge into the world…

EARLY MORNING OBSERVATIONS ….. WAY EARLY!

March 7, 2009 by

Dateline 4:27 AM —– really 3:27 but the clocks “sprung forward” this morning.
* The Dad can’t sleep – what a restless night.
* Wind is blowing about 40-50 mph out there.
* Can’t get comfortable – think I have that Restless Leg Syndrome thing going on.
* Most of all – can’t turn my mind off and everything that is on it is totally random. I lie there thinking about my calendar for the coming week (nothing out of the ordinary really); what kind of a pickup truck I am looking for; how come I can’t get started with a diet that I desperately need; when can I retire?; what color to paint the house; etc. etc. AND – these thoughts mix themselves up and play into each other somehow. I must be drowsing in between – but look at the clock at least every 10 minutes or so.
* Sooo – decided to get up and try to write something – looks really boring already.
* The B and I watched about the last 2/3 of “21” last night on TV. I got to thinking about “card counting” and ask myself – “why is that cheating”? It’s a skill isn’t it? I guess I don’t comprehend it …… don’t even know how it works actually.
* The car problem is solved. We were blessed. Foss treated us very well and fixed the vehicle speedily and completely under warranty. It appears total out of pocket expense will be less than $4.00 – that for some “Oil Dri” for the garage floor. lol
* Now it is kind of silent out there – wind seems to be taking a break. Probably wont last long.
I believe it is time for me to return to my bed and see if I can catch a couple of hours – that is if Sophie hasn’t taken over my spot.
It is my hope that each of you are sleeping soundly and comfortably this early Sunday morning – with pleasant dreams dancing through your heads! LOL
Sleep tight and Peace!

My First Christmas!

December 26, 2008 by

Boy did I get a good night sleep last night!  Finally, because I have been so tired having had so much to do for the past week.  I flew to Denver on the 19th with my mommy and daddy, and we rented a car and drove to Fort Collins and picked up my cousin Courtney who rode to Casper, Wyoming with us.  We got to grandma and grandpa’s house where we spent almost a whole week.  It was really fun, but there were so many people around that I didn’t sleep much because I didn’t want to miss out on a thing!

While in Casper, I got to spend time with a lot of my family that I never get to see, so it was so much fun!  I played at Great-Grandma Hotshot’s house with all of her Christmas toys.  They play music and I like to dance to it.  I also like crawling around her house and exploring all the really fun stuff.  I got stuck a few times!  Daddy is going to put some pictures up on his website, maybe on mine, too.  I loved seeing my great-grandma.  She loves me so much and I love her, too!

I also got to see my Great-Grandpa Carlen.  This funny guy just keeps kissing and loving on me.  He gave me so many kisses this past week that I won’t know what to do without them.  He is so lucky… he is going to spend a whole month in California.  I haven’t ever been to California, but my mommy and daddy said we’ll go there sometime and go to Disney Land and see our family out there.  I can’t wait!

I also got to see my Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Mikey and my cousins Stephen and Ashley.  They all love me, too!  It was really fun spending time with them and going over to their house to party like the rockstar I am!  When I grow up I hope I can dance as good as Ashley.  Ashley and Courtney both tell me how hot Zac Efron is.  He is cute, but I don’t like boys yet.  I also am going to learn karate like Stephen so I can keep all the boys away from me!

Of course I also got to spend a lot of time with my Grandma Vickie and Grandpa Steve.  Boy, I sure love them and wish I could see them a lot more.  I have been lucky to see them a lot this first year of my life, especially considering how far away they live from me.  They love me lots and it was sure fun seeing them in person instead of on the computer like we always do.

I can’t forget to mention that my oldest cousin Brandon “Big B” was there for some of the time and so was my cousin Keegan.  They were fun to hang out with, too!  I just wish that Big B, Nathan,  and my Aunt Wendy and Uncle Tony could have been in Casper for Christmas Eve with us.  It’s ok, though, because I got to go see them on Christmas Day in Fort Collins.  It was weird to see them all at the hospital because Big B had surgery on Christmas Eve morning.  His surgery went well!  He looked different with a bandage all over his head, but I got to see him after they took it off and he had cheeks just like me!  Big B loves me lots and kept holding my hand.  He is so special, I love him so much.  Nathan thinks I’m pretty cool, too.  He always likes to hold me when I see him.  I can’t believe how big he is now!  I will get to see him in May when he graduates from high school.  It was really fun seeing all of the Lechers, even if it was at the hospital.

Besides seeing everyone for Christmas, I had a lot of firsts while in Casper.  I went to church for the first time and I was such a good girl.  I really liked it and want mommy and daddy to take me to church more often.  I think God is pretty cool!  I also took two steps on several occasions.  Everyone clapped and told me how big I was — they are so weird!  And, I got lots of presents!  Aunt Stephanie cheated and gave me one of my presents a few days early.  It was a really neat play purse full of fun stuff.  I also got a coat and a bunch of clothes from my grandma and grandpa.  I got a really pretty (even if my daddy doesn’t think so) leopard print outfit from the Lovatos and Ashley.  The Lechers got me some really cute purple overalls and matching shirt.  Great Granpa Emmett gave me one of my great-grandma cookie’s collector beanie babies, and my great-grandma hotshot gave me money that mommy and daddy are putting into my savings account for me.  While all of the presents were neat, I really loved playing with the wrapping paper and bows!  I also loved dancing to all the music that was played.

On Christmas Day we flew back home where I got even more presents.  None topped seeing my Bubba again!  I really missed him but was happy to see him when we picked him up from his Daddy/SD’s house.  When we got home, I got to open more presents from Santa, Mommy, Daddy and Bubba!  I got a big kitchen to play with, a really neat musical stand with a computer just like daddy’s, an awesome Dave Matthews Band shirt and more!  It was a great first Christmas, that’s for sure.

This morning when I woke up after a long, really great sleep in my own bed, I got to see my Hoover (and the other dog) again!  I really missed them, too.

Well, I think I need to go take a nap.  I am exhausted just thinking about all of the wonderful time I got to spend with my family and all of the fun and pretty presents I got.  I can’t wait for Sunday because I get to have another Christmas with my Grandma and Grandpa Bradshaw, my uncle Chris, Aunt Sandy and my cousins Cayse and Wyatt.  I bet more people will be there, too.  And then, in just a couple of weeks I will get MORE presents because it will be my First Birthday!  Oh, the excitement.  I am tired.  Watch for pictures and probably even some Hoover videos coming soon!

Love,

Braelyn Grace

Well I think it’s time for me to take a nap.  I am so exhausted just thinking about all of the

Dancing elves and other things

December 12, 2008 by

Happy Birthday (yesterday) Rebecca. Hope you had a great day. We sure enjoyed the dancing elf this morning.

Brandon is having surgery Dec 24th at 7:00 am. Keep them in your prayers as this is another biggie for him. He will be staying in Colorado after the surgery for a while. Hard to travel between Casper and Ft Collins weekly for doctor appointments in January. I dont trust the roads. He is taking a leave of absence from his job and school for the semester. We plan to go down there on Christmas day when Ryan and Rebecca leave for the airport as they are going to fly out of Denver in the early afternoon.

Dad (grandpa Cookie) is staying with us for a few days. Betty went to Kansas City with her daughter. After Christmas he and Betty are going to California for 4 weeks to stay with Lynda and Fred and get out of the Wyoming cold for a while. That should be fun.

Uploaded a few pictures to Thanksgiving and Christmas 2008. Have some for the Lecher album also that I will do shortly. Nate wrestling, etc.

Well that is it for now. Have a great week-end

Quiet Sunday After a Busy Saturday

December 7, 2008 by

It’s been a very quiet and relaxing Sunday.  I’ve made no plans today, and I can still say that it’s 4:00 in the afternoon and I still have no plans for the afternoon and evening.  Yesterday, we celebrated my mom’s 60th Birthday.  Her actual birthday is Juy 31.  We had a surprise party for her yesterday, and I can say we pulled it off successfuly; she had no clue.  We had approximately 35 people at our house yesterday afternoon.  Everyone showed up before Noon, just as planned.  Mom, Dad, Chris, Sandy and the boys showed up a few minutes after 12:30.  Mom and Dad were the last to walk in…everyone yelled "SURPIRSE", mom was shocked, you could tell on the look on her face.
Ryan, my wonderful hubby cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill in the 95+ heat, he is such an amazing man, I’m lucky.  Ryan also put together this very cool DVD of pictures of mom and our family.  We all watched it yesterday after lunch.  I caught several people with tears in their eyes, including my mom and my dad…tears in his eyes.  He was truly touched with all that we did for mom.  All in all the day for mom was wonderful.  I think she loved every minute of it and enjoyed seeing her family, some that she hasn’t seen since my grandpa’s funeral.
Last night, I went to my friend Patty’s bachelorette party.  It was a fun and crazy time.  Lots of dancing, lots of shots, and one of the girls had a lot to drink…the bride to be.  The sidewalk outside of IHOP will never look the same, if you know what I mean.
Well, I need to probably get up and help Ryan get ready to go to Chicago. He’s gone tonight through Wednesday at a Hosting Conference.  He gets home Wed night and the we leave Thursday afternoon for Casper.  We are celebrating his Grandpa Emmett’s 80th and Grandma Hotshot’s 90th Birthday’s.  Lots of great milestones this summer…let’s keep them coming.

Love ya all!

There and back again

September 7, 2008 by

Steve and I spent a week in the OP area with Ryan, Rebecca, Spencer, and Braelyn and oops I almost forgot… Hoover and Sophie. We got to see and take a nice ride on the beautiful boat. Such fun. Several days were rainy but we did have a great relaxing time and ATE at some of Steve’s favorite places. (Sonic, Jack Stack BBQ, Japanese steak house)..
We also went to the Argosy Casino. Would have been much better off financially if we would have had lunch and left. We left ok. Cash. We had fun though.
I got a new camera for my early birthday. I uploaded pictures yesterday from the trip and from both the old and the new cameras.
We had dinner with Wendy, Tony and the kids in Ft Collins on our way home Friday night. We are meeting them again in a couple of hours for an early birtday dinner for the Big B. He hasnt seen his mom, dad or the siblings in a while so this should be fun for all.
Little B is getting some hair. It is really blond so it is still hard to see…but yes it is there. She is moving all over the place, not quite crawling, but can go most anywhere she wants by rolling. She is so adorable. We went to a family birthday party for Spencer at Rebecca’s parents house in Harrisonville, MO. That was really nice.
Stevie had a tae kwando (not spelled right probably), yesterday in Cheyenne. He got a trophy in sparing and did several other events also. Mike and Steph are spending the afternoon on the mountain with friends at a bonfire. The temp in town is not really warm…. bet it is chilly up there. BRRRRR.
The pugs faired well with Brandon while we were gone. They still try to find him in the basement when he is working or to go to bed. They kept him company while we were gone, but he says it was awfully quiet and kind of boring here. He is used to lots of people around. He seems to be liking Safeway and most importantly school…..
Courtney made the varsity softball team, Keegan is ready for football, and Nate had his senior pictures taken last week, so they are as busy as ever down there. Ashley has started dancing again so that should keep her busy with school also. Stevie has flag football starting here soon too. We thought we were going to get to see Spencer play soccer, but it was raining the game day and they opted not to tear up the fields because it was so wet.
Guess I have caught up with most everyone. I start my bible studies this week again. I have a completely new group of ladies in my group, I only know one of them so it will be great meeting new people. Kind of intimidating though. I know God has a plan for this group, I just am always fearful of taking on a new group. Yes, stepping out of my box. Will be fun though. We are doing Romans, James and Ephesians this year. Will be my 3rd time through it…. There must be something more God wants me to figure out here. Our community group starts next monday and we are doing a DVD series to start with on Choices and such. It should be great. Alice is doing the first week, so that should be great also.
Well we are about to leave to meet the B’s mom, dad and kids in wheatland for dinner.
God Bless and one more thing…. I read a book coming home from OP….. “The Shack”.. A must read for everyone….. EXCELLENT… and inspirational filled with answers to some pretty hard questions. Take my advise…. READ IT. You wont be sorry.
Love to all,
Mom
