Interesting, but not surprising

Thanks Rebecca for that interesting matchmaker.  I took the quiz and my results were not different than I expected.  I have also been struggling with want to win the nomination from the party.  Not surprising to me, Huckabee was my match followed my Mc Cain then Romney.  I think that would be my choice also, but it isnt likely to happen that way.

I have chosen not to venture out of the house this morning.  Sorry Lifetime, one more day with out working out.  The wind is blowing (that also is not surprising), and since we had snow yesterday, guess where all of that is today…RIGHT..  in our drive way.  Steve was able to get out, but unless things change, he probably wont get back in late tonight when he gets back into town.  I think I could get out, but digging back in well….  I will just stay home..Mike may have to pick up Ashley from school as I am not sure I can get her.

Sister Lynda returned home on Monday..  They are anxiously awaiting the new baby boy.  Any time now, but he isnt quite ready to come yet.  I am envious.. she is close enough to see the baby lots.

Just started organizing my clothes for the cruise.  Yes, I know Steph it is a bit later than usual, but I did get started and my list is getting longer each day.  Maybe I will downsize this year  yeah right.  No way.  All of those shoes are essentials  huh Ashley?  That will be a good thing to work on today as I am not leaving the house.  Guess I will go get started… bye for now…

Baby – wind – flying – oh my!

January 31, 2008 by

Just had the opportunity, with Vickie and her sister Lynda, to see Braelyn on the Overland Park Elledge’s webcam.  What a beauty!  Can’t tell for sure because she still looks really small but I think she is noticeably bigger than when we left!  Sure is an alert little girl, although I’m pretty sure she was bored with the camera time because she produces quite a few yawns.  By the way —-her Mom looked pretty good on there too!  Okay – you too Ryan>

The wind is about to drive me up the wall.  It is really howling and hammering – I would say "again" but I think by now the proper word is "still"……it is still blowing, it is not still!  Confused?  Me too!

I fly at 10:10 AM tomorrow morning for Las Vegas – I certainly hope the wind decides to take a little break tomorrow morning or I’m guessing that will be a flight to remember – if it flies!  I don’t know if it is bad enough wind to cancel flights but it must be close!  Not really excited to go anyway – found out I’m going to miss Lynda’s Jewelry Party here at the house! :-)   LOL  I’m guessing they will do pretty well without me.

Going to try to do my daily "quote" post while I am gone because I know you all get up every morning and run to the computer to see the latest.  If I miss – not to worry – I’ll double up when I resume!

     Love to all.

Happy New Year

January 1, 2008 by

It is hard for me to believe that it is 2008 already.  Someone once told me that time goes faster the older that you get.  That really has been the case for me the last few years.  I can not believe that I have not been working for almost 2 years already.  I am still not sure I can be considered retired because I am so busy all of the time.  I still say that maybe someday I will go back to work part time, but I keep finding excuses to keep that from happening. Actually I have not missed not working even a little bit.  I do miss some of the people that I spent the better part of 20+ years with, but not really the job.

Last year at this time Steve and I were undecorating the house because we were leaving on the 6th for a vacation cruise to Hawaii.  We chose that time because Ryan and Rebecca were supposed to be in Maui at that time.  We went on the Pride of America, a Norwegian Cruise line ship.  That is not our favorite line, but the ports were wonderful.  We saw most of the islands that we did not have a chance to visit when we lived on Oahu many years ago.  The weather was really rainy part of each day, but we still had a great time.

Later in January and early February, Steve had a training school in California.  I went with him and spent a few days with my sister Lynda.  We had a great time.  She and I visited Disneyland without any kids and had a fun day.  Not many people there, and we just walked on the rides no lines, no waiting.  We spent time with her family while there.

We try to make week-end trips to Ft Collins every month to see the Lecher’s.  We got to watch a little softball and a little baseball with the kids down there.  There is always something going on down there and we love those trips.

At the end of May we went out to Overland Park to visit Ryan and Rebecca and family.  Rebecca found out that she was pregnant earlier that month.  That has been exciting for them.  We enjoyed the visit with them.  We did see a little baseball there also.  The Kansas City T-Bones.

We watched Stevie and Ashley do their sports things in Casper this summer.  We did not make any long journeys anywhere.  The Moore’s came here in August and we had a belated birthday party for dad.  Betty planned it all and many of his family members came.  He was so excited and had a wonderful time.  Physically he is doing well, but gets really frustrated by his memory problems.

I had Brandon, Nathan, Courtney and Keegan come up for a week in July.  Spencer came from OP also.  That gave me a week with a whole lot of kids around.  Ashley and Stevie were here most of the time also.  We went to the mountain a couple of days and also to Thermopolis one week-end.  I loved it and I dont think the kids got TOO bored with grandma.  Hope not anyway.

Later in the summer, early fall, we bought the motorhome.  Now that has been a learning experience.  It is for sale..  if anyone is interested.  The dogs enjoyed traveling in it, but we figured out it was a bit more expensive than what we had bargained for.

In August I was asked to be a discussion leader for Women in the Word Bible study.  That has really been a blessing in my life.  I have some really wonderful ladies in my class and I probably have learned more from them that I have taught them.  We are doing GENESIS.  What a powerful study.  My friend Alice is co-leading our Community group at church.  Steve’s work schedule and other commitments made it so he decided to give up his leadership of the group.  That group has blessed us also.  I am thankful to Alice for stepping up there.

In November I went to Overland Park for a baby shower for Rebecca and the new baby.  She is due in January.  I predicted that she would be born in December, but here it is January 1st and no baby.  (Sorry R&R you missed the tax decuction for 2007) and Braelyn Grace will make her appearance in this world when she decides it is time.  Her time, not ours.   Everyone was here for Thanksgiving, including Hoover.  Casey did not come up either as Brandon had to work and have dinner with his girlfriend.

Christmas was pretty quiet.  Mike, Steph, Ashley, Stevie, and the grandparents all went to church with us early service on Christmas Eve.  We came back to the house for dinner and open gifts.  I tried to keep my focus on Jesus and the reason for the celebration this year.

That about updates our year.  Leaving in a week to go to OP again to meet the new grand daughter when she gets here.  God Bless all of you.  Happy 2008. :-) And to make the new year even more special…. Brandon asked Brittany to marry him, she said YES and now we have an engaged couple in the family, and Courtney says she will finally get a sister some day.

That’s it folks.  Love to all

New pictures in the Gallery

January of 2006 I got to travel to Hawaii with my sister.  That was my Christmas present and it was fun.  Brother-in-law Fred had to work so the 2 of us played Hawaiian tourist.  Lynda had never been there before and it had been a while for me also, but we saw everything we wanted to and had a great time.

I covinced Steve that he needed to go back to where we spent 3 years a long time ago.  Steve was stationed at Pearl Harbor while in the Navy.  Our daughter Wendy was born there.  So after a bit of effort on my part (haha) we returned for a visit.  This visit though was to the other islands besides Oahu, and we were on a cruise ship.  We found this to be a fun way to see lots of things.  Beautiful volcanos, lots of whales, beautiful scenery all of the other islands and we did not have to repack the clothes.

We did spend a day on Oahu before and after the cruise.  Went to see our old places where we lived and had lunch on the North shore at a fun little resturant where we had eaten many years before.  A highlight of the trip for Steve was the water message beds.  He loved them.  We also fell in love with an area of the island called Ko Olina.  Almost bought a time share there.  Maybe someday.  Oops.. forgot, we just bought the motor home so probably no time share any time soon.

Pictures from both Hawaiian trips have been uploaded.  Enjoy.  Enough rambling by me tonight.

Emmett’s Belated Birthday Party

August 27, 2007 by

We had a belated family birthday party for dad (grandpa) yesterday.  He had a wonderful time as many of his family members were there.  Daughter Lynda and Fred from California, Granddaughter Wendy, Tony and Nate and Keegan came up from Ft Collins.  Granddaughter Jamie and her baby Kaylee from Sheridan, Wyoming.  In town family members were also there.  Steve and I, Son Randy and his wife Colleen and her daughter Katie, Grandson Christopher and his fiance Lindsay and their daughter Brooklynne. Granddaughter Stephanie, Mike and Ashley and Stephen came later.  Several other family members and friends stopped by.  Dad had a great time whistling to Karoke music, singing and he and Betty even danced a couple of dances.  Happy Birthday belated dad and many more….
