Mom: Barking Contest
November 28, 2008 by RebeccaElledge.com
As I sit here at the computer I can hear Maggie and Sophie having a contest with Sundance who lives next door. Hopefully they are not annoying too many people. Rockie Dogs are supposed to be better behaved. NOT.
Nebraska is LONG
August 30, 2008 by Vickie Elledge
Brandon is home babysitting Maggie and Sophie (he is also working most of the weekend). We arrived in OP about 2:30 this afternoon. Long drive, but other than about a million trucks, pretty uneventful.
Little B is sitting up by herself, and has noticable hair which she did not have when we saw her a month ago. She is so funny. Going to a birthday party for Spencer tomorrow at his grandma and grandpas house. They have moved to a new house in Harrisonville.
I was kind of excited for the RNC but this hurricane scares me. It would not surprise me if they cancel the convention if this hurricane is as bad as it looks like it is going to be. My prayers go out for those people in the gulf coast area and in the Caymans and Cuba and all the affected areas.
I know I am thrilled with Mc Cains choice of running mate. I feel a bit of confidence now that perhaps there is a chance we will win this election… Positive thinking. I really like the lady, her spunk and her ideas. Makes the campaign interesting again.
Well I am tired.. Just got off the phone with Steph, they had a blow out on their car by Glenrock and have been waiting on the highway for a long time because they had to call onstar to come out. Makes for a long day.
Well..God bless all

Summer is almost over?
August 12, 2008 by Vickie Elledge
Teachers here in Casper started back on duty yesterday. Kids start to school here next week, I think they also start in Ft Collins also. Seems early to me. Speaking of kids, I ordered a large canvas print of the grandkids who were here last week. Should arrive tomorrow. I hope it is as good as the one I have of little B. Will be a great memory of a fun time last week and week-end.
I think Maggie and Sophie have about recuperated from all the people.
Going to a function tonight with Women in the Word.. Another indication summer is almost over. I even made it to the club for a work out yesterday and if I finish this in time… I am going again today.
The Moore/Rocks had some interesting adventures on their way home. Seems they blew a tire down in the Denver area. That would have scared me with that many people and that much stuff in there. Praise God that no one or nothing was hurt. They made it back to California Sunday evening. I am sure they were glad to be out of the car.
Courtney tried out for a different softball team and she was chosen to be on the team. Keegan has selected for a competitive team next year also. Think Tony and Nate will be missing coaching.
Brandon will be here this week-end. Basement almost finished painted. Still no furniture so guess he will sleep on his mattress for a while. Ashley and Stevie busy this week at a camp for kids and Ashley is teaching. Nate is still working with Dave. Havent heard what is going on with Spencer and Braelyn, but I am sure they are keeping everyone busy there. I know that each of my special grandkids will have a wonderful year at school.
Steve is on the road again this week some, but just day trips I think. Lifetime health and fitness is calling me…not really as the body is a bit stiff today, but I AM going anyway.
tata for now.
Back and busy

After the LONG drive from California, I decided in earnest to start on the basement to get it ready for company at the end of the month and for Brandon when he comes here for college. Lots to do, but we did get a LOT of stuff out of there today for the extra trash pickup tomorrow. Yes, we are collectors of stuff we realllllllly do not need and stored lots of things for Ryan from baseball, etc, that he probably does not even know still exists. Probably wont miss any of it….
The trip to California was fun but hot. We spent several days at Disneyland. Ashley danced at Spotlight nationals and did very well. She got 2 diamonds, one on her solo, one on a duet, 2 rubies, another solo and duet, and the team got an emerald. So she did very well especially competing with much larger studios from California, etc. Good job Ashley. Stevie had a ball swimming in the Moore’s pool, and doing projects with Fred and Andy. He also enjoyed most of disneyland. He is not really one for the dressed up characters, and Indiana Jones and Snow White were not in his list of do agains. We helped Lynda and Fred celebrate their birthdays, Lynda another major milestone…the big 60. The party was really nice and everyone seemed to have a great time.
Tony had to have some surgery on Friday after the mototcycle accident. The doctors repaired a cut tendon in his left hand. He will have to learn to keyboard on the computer one handed for a while. Thank God that he was not more seriously injured. He also has lots of cuts and scrapes and stitches.
Steve and the girls survived very well with out me, but they say I was missed. I missed them also. Maggie did chew me out a bit, but Sophie just barked to let me know she agreed with Maggie. Sophie has never been a leader only a follower of her sister.
We visited with Braelyn, Ryan and Rebecca on the web cam last night. Braelyn was talking to us in her very cute way. She likes to hear her voice. Funny little girl. Hoover was being lazy wouldnt even wake up to say hi. The other Sophie was not around either. Lazy dogs.
Guess that is about all from here. Think I will go out and enjoy my nice fountain, and relax a bit on the patio.
Have a great week all….
Love to you,

More Life With The Girls
July 10, 2008 by admin
Okay – so I’ve been "batching" oficially for a full week now. Just me and the "girls". While it hasn’t been too bad I think all three of us are ready for The mom’s return. I think that is projected for some time late tomorrow. They are leaving the Left Coast in a few hours and have rooms booked at Mesquite, NV for later tonite. By my calculations thats about 10 – 11 hour drive left for tomorrow normally. If they proceed like they apparently did on the way out – probably 14 or so.
Life around the homestead has been relatively non- eventful. As was written in Ryans latest post – Tony had an accident on his motorcycle. Praise God he is pretty okay —- he could still use a few prayers for a full repair and healing of his hand. Sounds like some torn ligaments and bone chips to take care of in surgery procedure in the next few days. Thinking of you Tony – God Bless you.
The girls have been GOOD! I almost hate to say that – I have one more night & day with them but I am really pleased so far. Tuesday I left at 7 AM and didn’t get back to feed or let them out until after 5 PM and ………. I could not find a single sign of an accident – #1 or #2! I am really proud of them. And they are sleeping very well also – only up once or twice a night! Knock on wood.
BGE is half a year old and I am 125 halfs a year old! Actually approaching 126 rapidly! Sounds good for her but not for me! I think I’ll stick with counting just once a year. Wow Lynda – you just celebrated your 120th half year birthday!
My mom is feeling poorly. Been pretty much bedridden the past couple of days. Her back, which hurts her continually, is apparently unbearable. She finally persevered in contacting her Doc today and they are making some meds adjustments to try to help her with the pain. God bless her – she just wants not to hurt so bad. If the meds adjustments don’t help we’ll get her in next week per docs orders but it is apparently arthritis which is apparently uncureable so it doesn’t bear well for her i fear. She can use your prayers too!
Well – I have to go put heat on my eye. Yah ….. me too! Not to be outdone by everyone else I woke up with a really swollen & ugly left eye this morning. It started yesterday and progressed through the night. Got into the eye doc about 10:30 this morning and apparently have a pretty advanced infection emanating from either an ingrown hair or a foreign hair. he is guessing foreign since hair doesent generally grow where this is at in the eye socket AND since i generally have a hell of a time growing hair anywhere! Ha ….. beat you to it so no comments necessary. Anyway – the perscription for cure is very interesting: twice a day if possible a heat pack on the eye for 15 -20 minutes. 4 times a day I wash my eye out (yep) with Johnsons "no tears" baby shampoo (yep – you and me BGE); then I put this ointment in my eye 4 times a day. This ointment is a real treat – little bitty tube like super glue comes in – $127 for the tube by the way – only $23 to me cause i have good insurance thank you State of Wyoming. Anyway – this ointment blurrs vision for a pretty long period of time (the noon swag for over an hour). Sheesh! What next? AND – if i am guessing correctly knowing my environment – I believe that if we could ever recover that little hair folicle and run some DNA or something we would see either Sopie or Maggies name all over it! So – thanks girls i think!
I need to go see if Maggie fixed me any dinner. Any bets?

Do you miss me Braelyn???
June 30, 2008 by admin
I am home in Casper after spending 3 days and nights with baby B. I had a great time, and I think her baby-sitter will not love me today. I got to spend lots of time with her and I think she knows me now. I am sure she was happy to see her mommy last night also. Uploaded some pictures of the few days there under the album Ryan’s family. I think Hoover and Sophie were glad to see me also. I know Braelyn was really a good girl for her daddy and me. She loves to giggle and smile and to hear her voice as she "talks" her baby language.
Now to get ready for a trip to California for Ashley to dance in Nationals at the Disneyland Hotel. We will drive there on Thursday and be gone a week. Stephen has to test for Karate on Saturday so we will leave after the final event for Ashley and come back so Stevie can test for his purple belt.
Steve went to watch Courtney play softball yesterday. He says she is an awesome softball player. Keegan (coached by his dad and brother) did not have a game for grandpa to see, but Steve asked him who his favorite coach is and he said he really could not answer that. Diplomat huh. Brandon says he is coming here about the 20th of August for his new job and classes at Casper College. I need to get started on the basement cleaning project.
Maggie and Sophie were glad to see me when I came home. Maggie did not even chew me out too badly.
Summer must really be here. Our back yard seems to have LOTS of weeds. Need to go spend some time out there also. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the social security people. (Yes I am that old lol). Might as well get the benefit of all that money I paid to them over the last years.
Everyone have a great day…. a wonderful 4th and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Nate on the 2nd.

Sunday Morning Babble
February 24, 2008 by admin
It’s Sunday morning and I am the only one stirring. Dogs & Mrs. warm in bed and oblivious to the world right now. Wish I could sleep later! Been "sort of" windy last night and this morning. I rate "sort of" at 20-30 mph. Just a breeze. Shingles are stacked in neat little stacks on our roof. We bought early as we were advised a price increase was imminent. They will be stacked up there a few more weeks as they need 2-3 days of 70 degree + weather to effectively put them up there correctly.
I am still chipping away at the caked salt in the water conditioner. Don’t ever let your softener go without attention folks. That is not an easy chore. I am finally at the bottom of the tank. Now I just have to get a a couple of hard to reach places and I’ll be set to rechrge it and hopefully, get it working properly once again.
Our newest victims visited yesterday. Vickie located a nice young man and his sister to stay here and look after our two "precious" little darlings. Guess they didn’t run him off on the initial meeting so they are going to give it a try. How come nobody comes back after a week with them?
Alot of good excuses I have heard – and I have to admit that in some cases the choice was ours. Extenuating circumstances we will call it.
Hope Nate got a good nights rest last night. I could not be more proud of that boy. What a trooper. First trip to Colorado High School State Wrestling Tournament and he finished 6th in the State. And …. he is a Junior this year so he has another shot! That is a good example of a person selecting a niche and working their tail off at it and succeeding. WAY TO GO NATE!! Love you.
Interesting week ahead. Staying in Casper tomorrow – then Cheyenne for two days The great State of Wyoming Legislature is in session and we meet with them to educate (not lobby
heh heh) at various meetings this week. Then I’ll shoot back to Casper late Wednesday then head to Wheatland for a day and a half of Strategic Planning. Retreat atmosphere – out at a guest ranch – could be nice if the weather is nice or miserable if the weather is normal. In between all of that I am starting to try to get a half dozen projects to the point where I can leave them for 10 days or so so I can go & enjoy floatin the boat!
Well – Miss Vickie just poked her head in – she and our "precious darlings" must have finally seen merit in getting out of bed. Except for Maggie – I figure she is still there …. she knows how to work it.
Love y’all from Casper wherever you may be and whatever you may be doing. Sure would like to see some blogging from some other branches of the tree. If you are readin’ – how about writin’?

Home With The Pups!
January 17, 2008 by admin
Well …..Vic and I returned home from OP this afternoon. We were greeted by blowing snow and cold! Was not a pleasant disembarkation from the plane but we’re home now and our pups are warm and cuddly (now that they are pretty much done with chewing us out.) Maggie definitely can tell from my closthes that I have been cheating on her with Hoover (and OP Sophie too Anonymous).
We had a great trip – though short. I think BGE actually started growing while we were there. By the next time I see her she will have really changed I’ll betcha’. She is a total sweetheart. Rebecca and Ryan did a terrific job with that little creation. They have alot to be proud of and alot to be thankful for.
Spencer finally tuned me up on NCAA 2008. I was up on him 2 – 0 before he got clicking but now we are tied. He is figuring out my offense so I reckon I will have to get creative and practice some new stuff before our next meeting.
Sure am excited about returning to work tomorrow morning …. NOT! I could probably get used to vacationing with just a little practice.
Well – thank God all is well with baby & parents, travels and our family. We are truly blessed.
Thanks to R & R for the great Christmas present (trip to OP) and for their hospitality.
Later-
The DAD
P.S. I wanted to get a picture of Ryan changing a diaper but my camera batteries kept dying while I waited. Don’t think they make them that "everlasting".
Back in Wyoming
January 17, 2008 by admin
Winter… well we left from the Kansas City airport early this afternoon, and made it back to Casper on time. Spencer did not have school today as it they got a few inches of snow overnight. That much snow in Wyoming would not have gotten the kids out of school. On the way to the airport about mid morning I think I saw why school was cancelled… the roadways must have been really slick before the snow removal trucks came out. We saw at least a dozen cars off the high ways.
We had a great time with Ryan, Rebecca, Spencer, Braelyn and the dogs. Hoover and Sophie have adjusted pretty well. Spencer will be a great big brother. Ryan and Rebecca are absolutely gaga over that precious little one. I miss them all a bunch already.
Ryan made a couple of videos (produced by the one and only Hoover) which are on his website gallery under baby pics, videos. They are great. I am going to upload pictures of the trip soon, maybe yet tonight.
Maggie and Sophie seemed to be just fine with the new house/dog sitter. She did not get as much sleep as she is used to (I know that feeling) since they like to get up several times at night. Back to that format again now. Good to see them though and they really gave us the once over when we got here. We fed them though and all has been forgiven.
..
Nate is still on a winning roll in wrestling. He won again last weekend. Keegan did not get to finish his meet as he was pretty sick. Turned out to be Strep. He told me yesterday that he is feeling much better. Hopefully he hasnt spread it to the rest of the family.
I’m all blogged out for the day. Guess I will organize some pictures so I can get them uploaded. Until later…. chao…

Santa Stopped By Early
December 24, 2007 by admin
Santa stopped by the house early tonight, not sure why. He came and dropped off a PlayStation 3 for Spencer. Guess he knew Spencer would be going to S.D.’s house tomorrow mid-day and that he might want to play it for awhile before he goes. Just got it hooked up and he’s up there playing it while listening to some Jason Mraz… very loudly, I might add. Rebecca is up loading his new IPOD, courtesy of Grams and Gramps Elledge.
We enjoyed Christmas Eve with Rebeccas mom and dad, along with Chris, Sandy, Cayse and Wyatt. It sure is fun watching the little ones at Christmas. Really makes it a special holiday. I definitely missed being with my family this holiday season, but I spoke with them and they sounded like they were having a great time. Lil Stevie told me to have a Merry Green Bay Christmas. Guess he didn’t check the scoreboard yesterday!
Spencer got me a nice picture for the basement and a cigar ashtray with poker cards on it. Great gifts… though the ashtray will be decoration only. No smoking in this house! The Mom and The Dad got me a nice Broncos pull over, some cK jeans, a Casper Ghosts long sleeve t-shirt, and an excursion for the cruise in March. Rebecca, er, the dawgs, got me a nice pair of silver cuff links… very much needed. Oh, and a new pillow. Seems Hoover decided to chew one of my pillows up last month. So, he got me a new one.
Rebecca and I promised not to buy each other gifts this year as we have spent a ton recently. She didn’t live up to it; I did. Sort of. I did get her a really nice watch the other day for her birthday (and Christmas, but don’t tell her).
Christmas has always been my favorite holiday, but now-a-days, it’s all about giving and making people happy. Cheesy, I know… but it is fun to get people stuff. One of the best things today was watching Hoover literally open his present from Sophie and Maggie in Casper. It was priceless… and I took quite a few pictures. They are uploading now, will take a couple hours for all 175 pictures I took today. All are going under Holidays > Christmas > 2007. Check ‘em out.
Merry Christmas all.
–Ryan
