It’s Early

February 13, 2008 by

Up early again today.  I’ve not slept real well the past two nights – for unknown reasons.  Just happens sometimes.  I can attribute a part of it to the wind again.  It’s back up well over 30 mph the past 7 – 8 hours.  The thing about 30+ mph is it sounds like 50 – 60!  Anyway – it sure gets old.  Just heading out to the TV Station to be a guest on the Morning Show.  I know ….they must be really hurting for guests.  Actually, our PR folks in Cheyenne stacked me up with these things to talk about a seminar-workshop opportunity for small businesses that will take place in Cheyenne next week.  Helps to hook up Wyoming small business with Government Contracts.  Actually a very worthwhile program so I don’t mind "pimping" it for them.  I did the Noon Show on K2 on Monday, the Morning Show on K2 yesterday, and today will be the Morning Show on KCWY.  Then I am off to Douglas for the day – two or three meetings and projects cooking down there.  It will be an easy drive down with the wind behind me but I will probably suck up half a tank of gas on the way back driving almost directly into the wind.

Not much else to report from the Dad.  Pretty much business as usual.

Love you all and congrats to the Moore’s on the new family addition.

Just heard from my mom that my cousin Jason and his wife Dawne just had their second child. Madison’s new brother is Luke Reiland Moore. He is tiny… less than 6 pounds but healthy. All is well I am told. Congrats to them, can’t wait for Braelyn to meet him (and Madison!)

Happy New Year

January 1, 2008 by

It is hard for me to believe that it is 2008 already.  Someone once told me that time goes faster the older that you get.  That really has been the case for me the last few years.  I can not believe that I have not been working for almost 2 years already.  I am still not sure I can be considered retired because I am so busy all of the time.  I still say that maybe someday I will go back to work part time, but I keep finding excuses to keep that from happening. Actually I have not missed not working even a little bit.  I do miss some of the people that I spent the better part of 20+ years with, but not really the job.

Last year at this time Steve and I were undecorating the house because we were leaving on the 6th for a vacation cruise to Hawaii.  We chose that time because Ryan and Rebecca were supposed to be in Maui at that time.  We went on the Pride of America, a Norwegian Cruise line ship.  That is not our favorite line, but the ports were wonderful.  We saw most of the islands that we did not have a chance to visit when we lived on Oahu many years ago.  The weather was really rainy part of each day, but we still had a great time.

Later in January and early February, Steve had a training school in California.  I went with him and spent a few days with my sister Lynda.  We had a great time.  She and I visited Disneyland without any kids and had a fun day.  Not many people there, and we just walked on the rides no lines, no waiting.  We spent time with her family while there.

We try to make week-end trips to Ft Collins every month to see the Lecher’s.  We got to watch a little softball and a little baseball with the kids down there.  There is always something going on down there and we love those trips.

At the end of May we went out to Overland Park to visit Ryan and Rebecca and family.  Rebecca found out that she was pregnant earlier that month.  That has been exciting for them.  We enjoyed the visit with them.  We did see a little baseball there also.  The Kansas City T-Bones.

We watched Stevie and Ashley do their sports things in Casper this summer.  We did not make any long journeys anywhere.  The Moore’s came here in August and we had a belated birthday party for dad.  Betty planned it all and many of his family members came.  He was so excited and had a wonderful time.  Physically he is doing well, but gets really frustrated by his memory problems.

I had Brandon, Nathan, Courtney and Keegan come up for a week in July.  Spencer came from OP also.  That gave me a week with a whole lot of kids around.  Ashley and Stevie were here most of the time also.  We went to the mountain a couple of days and also to Thermopolis one week-end.  I loved it and I dont think the kids got TOO bored with grandma.  Hope not anyway.

Later in the summer, early fall, we bought the motorhome.  Now that has been a learning experience.  It is for sale..  if anyone is interested.  The dogs enjoyed traveling in it, but we figured out it was a bit more expensive than what we had bargained for.

In August I was asked to be a discussion leader for Women in the Word Bible study.  That has really been a blessing in my life.  I have some really wonderful ladies in my class and I probably have learned more from them that I have taught them.  We are doing GENESIS.  What a powerful study.  My friend Alice is co-leading our Community group at church.  Steve’s work schedule and other commitments made it so he decided to give up his leadership of the group.  That group has blessed us also.  I am thankful to Alice for stepping up there.

In November I went to Overland Park for a baby shower for Rebecca and the new baby.  She is due in January.  I predicted that she would be born in December, but here it is January 1st and no baby.  (Sorry R&R you missed the tax decuction for 2007) and Braelyn Grace will make her appearance in this world when she decides it is time.  Her time, not ours.   Everyone was here for Thanksgiving, including Hoover.  Casey did not come up either as Brandon had to work and have dinner with his girlfriend.

Christmas was pretty quiet.  Mike, Steph, Ashley, Stevie, and the grandparents all went to church with us early service on Christmas Eve.  We came back to the house for dinner and open gifts.  I tried to keep my focus on Jesus and the reason for the celebration this year.

That about updates our year.  Leaving in a week to go to OP again to meet the new grand daughter when she gets here.  God Bless all of you.  Happy 2008. :-) And to make the new year even more special…. Brandon asked Brittany to marry him, she said YES and now we have an engaged couple in the family, and Courtney says she will finally get a sister some day.

That’s it folks.  Love to all

Motorhome update and other things

September 23, 2007 by

The motor home (beast) was returned to Casper on Friday on the back of a truck.  Should know tomorrow what needs to be done to return it to running order.  Interesting lessons we have learned.  Not sure just what we will do with it, but first get it fixed.  God willing it is not as major as we first heard.

I just spent the week-end at a Women of Faith conference in Denver..  Oh my what an awesome experience.  This was my first conference, but I certainly hope it will not be the last.  The speakers were so awesome and exciting.  To see what God has done in the lives of these remarkable women.  Many of the speakers have experienced the love of God through some pretty rough times.  For them to be able to open up and share their lives with 18,000 women to me was truely amazing.  God is awesome.  I am His friend.  That is unbelieveable to me.  The worship was uplifting.  There were women of all ages, from all churches and from about 8 states there.  I can not wait to go again.  The preconference speaker was Beth Moore.  Although I have seen her before and done several of her Bible studies, she always has such a powerful message and new teachings that just overwhelm me.  God has truely gifted her to witness to women and men.

Women of Faith has started a series of conferences for teen age girls which has been very well received all over this country.  There were 8000 girls at a conference in Dallas last week-end while we were in Denver.  It is my prayer that those girls truely experienced the love of God for them in this very exciting new ministry.

Guess I have blogged enough for a while.  Oh yes….  HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ashley, we all love you.  :-)
