What is this? A non-video blog? Get outta here!

It’s a nice, but slightly chilly, Saturday in the OP. Not a cloud in the sky. We’re on our way to the Hashmi’s house for a Tres de Mayo party. Should be a good time. Braelyn is coming with us… it’s a kid-friendly event.

Braelyn has been discovering her voice. She squawks. I squawk back. Back-and-forth we go… she smiles the whole time. It’s pretty neat (hmmm, a BG Moment video of her chatting will have to be produced if Hoover isn’t too lazy). She is growing fast. She has had a cold the last week… congested, runny eyes. But she smiles right through it. Seems better today. She has also had a rash of some sort on her face, which is why you don’t see any recent photos. I’m waiting until that clears up a bit before we take another thousand shots of miss BGE. I do know she is excited to be heading to the FTC to meet the Lechers, as well as making her first trip to Casper to see my grandpa and my grandma. They, too, will get to meet miss BGE this month. We’re flying to Denver on May 22, driving to Casper that night, then down to FTC on Friday so see the Lechers and to attend Big B’s graduation on the 24th.

Big B graduating. Crazy. I remember when Big B was Miss BGE’s size. What a great kid he was, and is to this day. He’s been through a tremendous amount in his 18 years…and he is a better person for it. I can’t wait to be there to watch him grab his diploma and enter the next phase of his life. One side note about his graduating. That means my sister is OLD OLD OLD!

I am off to New York on Monday afternoon; back to KC on Tuesday night. We have a board meeting in New York. Board meetings are not fun. The week surrounding them is basically a complete waste of productivity. When you are short on staff, like we are, you spend a lot of time making slides, running reports, etc. Stuff you would normally have other staff to be able to do. But not us. The highest paid employees in the company are spending time making power point presentations. Then, to top it off, we’ll be out of the office two days. Oh well. Enough about work.

In the sports world, it is baseball time. I miss coaching, big time, especially around this time of year. I still check in on what’s going on with the teams I have coached in the past. Casper baseball has gone to hell in a hurry. Dropped the Legion program–bad move. I do know if I was coaching I probably could lose the 25 pounds I have gained in the past year or so. I spoke with Dusty Harvard, who played for me in Casper and who is now on Oklahoma State’s baseball team, the other night. I could really tell he’s frustrated with not playing much and not getting the chance. He is a great kid with unbelievable talent. He’ll play, and he’ll play well. I know he will.

Next weekend I will be down at the lake for one last day of “summer prep” before the real lake season begins. I will miss the big opening weekend (Memorial Day weekend) because I’ll be in Colorado for B’s graduation. But, week after next (weather pending) I am gonna head down there with a few people to tool around on the lake a bit and get the boat out. I’m anxious to spend a lot of time down there this summer. We’ll stay at Gabe’s place, where we now have high speed internet, so I can keep up with work while I’m down there. Should be a great summer. Boating and being at the lake is something I could never do being so involved with baseball in the past.

Well, we’re almost to the Hashmi’s house for the party. Guess I’ll wrap this up. Next week I need to get some of the political thoughts in my head out of there, so I may have to do an anti-Hillary blog in the next few days. She makes me want to puke everytime I see or hear her. And Obama has definitely lost a lot of his luster. McCain is looking good now…that’s the sad state of politics in America. Crazy Rev Wright may have cost Obama a chance at being the POTUS. But, a lot can change in the next 6 months.

Peace… and keep the HC out of the WH.
